- Pretty sure she would get invited to enl.wtf

- I try my best to weigh responses to one's fuckups far more than the initial fuckups themselves

- if 15,000 players are doing it. its a normalized socitey

- YES

- there is our mole in the making!

- This

- But I don't like that

- Yup. I'll take gullible over conspiracy theorist any day. It's a social video game, not the nuclear launch codes. Can't make friends if you don't take chances

- Anyhow, Erich, I can't say anything about your local community

- But I'd be happy to talk with her about this, I like people

- Guess I'm too cynical for it.

- ya i was messing around

- I'd also probably say "no, stay Res, build a new community."

- i wonder how many name changes were submitted this weekend

- And how many of those are so they can continue business as usual?

- He's also very good at liking people, in case it wasn't obvious.

- I need to back up here for a minute. She knew it was wrong. She told you about it before WB did anything? Yet she was still in there. She used it. But it's ok because she didn't use it for bad reasons and she apologized? How is this any different from other stories we are seeing from res listers?

- I know her, I believe her, she thinks what she did what wrong.

- But it's not entirely.

- I acknowledge that

- The only difference I'm seeing to warrant the change in how she's being seen vs the other 900 is because you know her

- Part of my difficulty.

- She still accepted it and participated. Knowingly.

- That's the part that I have difficulty with when someone says they're sorry. I think are they only apologizing because they got caught?

- Yea. They all are. But it's either this or they're assholes forever.

- Including your friend?

- How do you know? Backlogging a bit

- She practically lived in my garage for 4 months around Navarro. She's a wandering artist who fell in with ingressers, she doesn't give a damn about guardians and in over a year she never hit one. She denounced the local spoofer and helped us report him.

- Idk. I still come back how we had Cate write her post debunking the claim that you're now defending

- She calls the asshole res out on their shit. And left their hangouts

- I'm not defending it. She fucked up. She shouldnt pretend otherwise

- I'm talking about what to do now

- There’s a difference between “I didn’t use it to do wrong so it’s okay and I’ll keep using it”

- Also, I knowingly outed this person.

- And “I didn’t use it to do wrong but I was still wrong and I screwed up.”

- Like Niko.

- Yeah, no worries, we’ll hold it in confidence

- I just mean... I feel bad in a way. Not worried about being found out.

- The first part of that sentence is one of the things we were speaking out about today.

- I meant we’ll keep her confession in this room. Sorry that you had to put her name out on the internet

- Ah.

- Redemption is fundamental and human.

- And I’m not saying you gotta agree with me.

- This. So much this

- I've run across one or two agents in the past who'd done messed up things and were able to convince their peers they'd reformed.

- I made a few mistakes in my formative years. I spent time around better people and learned to make better decisions.

- 6-12mos exile from the community, name change and gain trust from their peers that they would never do it again before readmitting felt reasonable in those cases.

- But it really depends on the situation.

- Yea.

- Yep.

- There are local Res who I won’t ever trust.

- Vidicon basically bribed me with this thing

- I was surprised she did. And of course, i said nope.

- None of the people I've ever successfully restored to the community ever messed up again, to my knowledge, but there's lots of agents who couldn't make it a month before doing something awful again

- yup

- There was once an fielder who got so mad at his local spoofers that he did it himself once and made a public g+ post on how it was done as an expose. He knew he'd be ejected from fielding and was okay with that.

- About a year later, having maintained an absolutely pristine track record, he was allowed to participate in a field in which two agents personally accompanied him

- Next AMA 😂

- We still make agent selfie every single time they're in the field, no matter where they go

- I have a local of my own enl who has fucked up ALOT and is working his ass off to earn trust again. It's not something simply given because he admitted he was wrong.
I'm having trouble forming words to my opinion. It feels hypocritical in a way.

- But they aren't "that guy who spoofed" anymore.

- Reconciliation can happen.

- Nah, I don’t think it’s hypocritical

- But it's not always easy.

- Forgiveness is not obligatory either.

- And trust your instincts.

- I'm meaning in the instance here

- There was a cross faction multi account in SF

- Res primary. We caught him and exposed him, Res kicked him out of community and took him back a month later

- I can forgive someone without giving them the chance to stomp all over me again, too. It’s not bosom buddies or nothing

- My nose said “bad idea”

- And yeah, a year later he was doing it again

- We can't take the stance of "you can't say you used it for good or you didn't use it for bad reasons" and turn around and say "well she didn't use it for bad reasons so its ok to trust her". She has apologized publicly? Is she still in the guild? Has she left and denounced wanting anything to do with them? Saying she called out bad res before is good. Something I'm sure others in the guild have done too so that now they can say the same thing "I'm not bad. I call out the bad guys"

- A local Smurf just told me he's on that slack but not in any of the offending channels. I find that interesting and I wonder how many users there are in that Slack who are playing a clean game

- If she left and did so publicly and apologized, then maybe I could work toward trust. To apologize and stay in sends mixed messages

- Go back to the comments from the res Charlie posted. If you were in that slack you were there for a reason.

- There are almost certainly private channels that wb wasn't in

- So we can't see them

- But the offending channels that we know about were public. If you were in that Slack, you knew this was going on. I’m going to find it very hard to accept that excuse from anyone

- I'm sorry. I don't mean to be the one who causes waves and problems.

- There's nothing clean about that slack tho

- Yeah there is still a big institutional endorsement problem

- who?

- Yeah, that stuff from Cherryal in the Guardian working group was hard to buy.

- Inliketim.

- mmmmm.

- Yeah.

- No, it's ok. I am not looking for a rubber stamp

- Just to talk about it.

- this is a thing that we do pretty well. We're all different, and we all talk, and it's fine. That's rare and good.

- You do what you feel is right. I cannot back it but that is my opinion. Too many things don't add up or feel right

- Comfortably disagreeing is the other thing we do pretty well.

- If you say so lol

- We've got mail

- pulling up the link with throwaway. hold plz

- That’s hilarious

- Hahaha. I'd love to spin up an email like RedPenGrammarPedant@gmail or something and write him back asking what is illegal about a map

- lol

- its a mymaps
