- How much do we tell the people we trust/add before we add them?

- I'm a little uncomfortable with small safe spaces where we will eventually add hundreds of people so we should monitor our words

- Although I guess there's a way not to give people the history now

- Maybe a new channel

- Concur. Should be a new room IMO

- "A group of people are planning a simultaneous release of information on a RES scraper platform. Would you like to review and possibly participate?"

- Mkay

- yes, def new channel. Sorry I should have thought that through.

- ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

- Would have to be short timespan too - only a few hours in case someone leaks it early.

- If I don't want to participate in the simultaneous release should I leave now? Or just not join that other channel?

- Yeah I'm thinking 6 hours

- Not sure what expectations you have for involvement

- yeah not join the new channel I think

- ๐Ÿ‘

- Agreed on this.

- this is just an idea. Not sure if it's good or not.

- I'm concerned about looking overly orchestrated.

- Sophistication opens the attack vector "you're just trying to drag us down."

- I feel the same way on this one as I did on Recharge.

"Of course we're talking to each other."

- This can be Whistle Control

- And we can make Whistle swarm elsewhere

- Iโ€™d advocate a single anon post to reddit that can then be amplified.
.....17.10.2017 19:03:44, Charlie Arnold: >>changed group name to "Whistle Orga"<<

- Would be much harder to trace to a person or group and can be boosted through everyoneโ€™s local instead of a group curated for such.

- hmm

- That way the public release occurs and since news travels fast we donโ€™t appear to be astroturfing it.

- I worry about driving too much traffic to Reddit. That thing is going to be such a grief-fest

- but maybe if the reddit post links a gdrive

- You know, I'd web site it.

- and then we all pick up the drive

- Yes thatโ€™s what I mean - not to dump the data on Reddit.

- oh. yes

- Do it like a security vulnerability announce.

- You can do completely anonymous sites on S3 with Amazon DNS.

- You don't want to open opportunity for comments.

- Where can we host it that wonโ€™t be subject to abuse like S3?

- Some cost of bandwidth.

- and a website would enable perfect content layout

- and a fun FQDN

- My concern with S3 is that theyโ€™d download it continuously to try to cost whoever hosts it money.

- niantic.fixyour.game

- I could open a new site on squarespace quick cheap and anonymous.

- The brokers guild.party is available. :)

- Is there something to be said for people from every region presenting the same message at the same time?

- oh and we know a pretty good web designer I think

- Put the S3 bucket behind CloudFront.

- Er no

- Werong cloud

- Cloudflare.

- I don't think mass repeated distribution is a good idea. Part of what worked before I think was that it was new content about the same thing. Drawn out over days, it almost insisted that at some point you would read one of the damn posts.

- 20 ppl created the appearance that "everyone was posting about it"

- oh, funny analog to clusterbomb fielding

- the recharge campaign was about getting smart passionate people to write some really well-considered commentary

- But if they go up in the same hour, it's gone in 24.

- staged release seems ok too. Not the same hammer blow, and it concentrates the g+ commentary in just a few places, but it's true that we could keep the story alive longer.

- Initial post blows the lid and publishes the arcuive, then If we could get 20 hits documented with bios. Make them local to the poster and spread them out for two days.

- That would create a strong logical and emotional argument for action.

- Krug implied he readmost of the recharge posts

- if we release on a Thursday and use AMA as a mid-cycle bridge, that's an extension and easy signal boost

- What about those crazy bgan rechargers!?!?

- Heigh ho!

- hey. Pongo knows about websites and stuff.

- I'd also point out that Sarah wasn't the main release, just the first one I found. I would argue that the Reddit release saw a *lot* more folks, but I think the imugr collection actually saw the most play (as most avenues including Sarah and Reddit) linked to it.

- I may have been the reddit post. I'd kill to remember what the fuck the password was on that account. XD

- Yeah, Imgur was the main point of that release

- We had one redditor get banned for that release.

- The fuck is Russell and why don't I remember it?

- *banned from r/ingress

- Yep thanks.

- Because it was on our coast

- There were a few vectors actually, by the time the reddit post was made the screenshots were pretty widespread; RES knew that we had them and that they were real, Sarah's post came several days later when we drew some connections between two groups of incidents

- Basically the same thing we're looking at now, but in the Pacific Northwest and based on stuff happening in hangouts rather than Slack

- I'm adamantly opposed to warning RES about this ahead of time.

- Hm, ok. It sounds vaguely familiar. I think I saw Hangouts screenshots at some point

- I was going to say and to our knowledge they have no idea what we know so far

- I believe I've made clear who and whose friends can fuck themselves.

- The initial release was actually viral via DM and local agents were already making snarky comments in comms to RES about it

- just click through to the screenshots

- The Sarah New g+ post drew 479 comments.

That's a shitlot of comments.

- 'main' is where the people are.

- Thanks. Will check this out later

- Anyone know how many people get their ingress news from reddit or Twitter vs g+?

- To be fair, we weren't "warning" them so much as delivering a personal spit in their faces. ;-)

- It's all G+.

- ooh interesting there are references to RIOT in that thread

- And honestly the swarm did a far better job of circulating the screenshots that we could have coordinated ourselves. It was more organic that way, although it was super useful to have a permanent home for the screenshots for easy reference.

- Do quote

- "ENL OrGTFO
+6
WTF is all the butthurt for? Maybe a RIOT would help? Oh well, I'll go SOP up a date on RESWUE.
"

- Ah, the res troll

- this

- Enl.

- Primarily Reddit here

- G+ is terribad

- Really?
